Health and Safety at Work

The AUT Safety Representative attempts to keep track of current Health and Safety legislation, at present European Community legislation.

In the College there are four separate safety committees dealing with offices, laboratories, estates, and clinical matters. The present AUT Safety Representative sits on the Office, Social and Domestic Safety Committee. This can pass matters up to the College Management Group through the chair, and receive information from the other groups by the same means.

If you as an AUT member want information on Health and Safety matters, contact any committee member.

If you have a problem you should approach your departmental safety officers. If you are not happy that either legislation or college policy is being followed, contact the AUT Safety Representative who will advise you on the best course of action or raise it with the College Safety Adviser. General issues can be discussed at the committee mentioned above.
